Happy Friday,

It’s time for the last message of this year. Though we know we can always start anew, determine a different course, set our sights on something we want to achieve – and move toward it; there is something about being in this place at the turning of the year that seems full of promise. So, the reminder today is to be in this place of opportunity.

Take some time to acknowledge the lessons and achievements of 2011.

What have you learned?

What has worked?

What has grown in you?

What qualities rose up and served you?

What connections have you made?

What was fun?

What are you proud of?

What are your grateful for?

What do you want to take with you into the New Year?

As you turn your thoughts to the New Year, notice what you want to bring to it.

Who do you want to be?

What is calling for your attention?

What do you want to create?

How good could it be, how big?

Who do you want to play with?

Where do you want to go?

Be expansive, and then focus!

Judy

And, if something you want is greater clarity and support on this journey – I can help with that.

Let Go

www.judy@mynextstagecoach.com

December 23, 2011

Happy Friday,

Have you noticed what is created when you let go of stuff, habits, thoughts that are weighing you down? Have you experienced that sense of freedom, freshness, and flexibility that occurs when old baggage is released?

There’s a weight associated with holding on to things - physical things, all those clothes, the books, the papers, the do-dads. There’s a weight of obligation with the overcrowded calendar, the busy schedule, the commitments that may be maintained out of habit or a sense of “should.” There are some thoughts that can also weigh us down. There can be an assumption that we have to continue with a role that no longer suites us. It may be that we are stuck with a belief around how others are supposed to be, or act.

This is a perfect time to reflect on some assumptions and beliefs that may no longer serve you. If you experience a weightiness of thought, of worry, consider the thought, the belief, and the assumption behind it. Is it true? Could it be different? What would change if you could hold another thought? Be curious. This year is ending. New beginnings are right around the corner. What do you want to carry into the New Year (pack light) and, what do you want to leave behind?

Grateful for the lessons,

Judy

And, if something you want is greater clarity and support on this journey – I can help with that.

what do you want?

www.judy@mynextstage.com

December 16, 2011

Happy Friday,

We are approaching the end of the year and the question, “What do you want?” can be in the air….on our minds. What do you want? If you are facing a time of change, a time of transition you may be dealing with many choices, big and small. This can be a good time to reflect on what you want to keep, what you want to let go of, and what you want to move towards.

Some suggestions for your list, as you move ahead into the next year, include….

- Something that brings you joy

- Something that offers you comfort

- Something that challenges you

- Something worthwhile

- Something to look forward to

- Something that uses your creativity

- Something that connects you to others

Funny – the list starts out with “something” yet, what you find to satisfy that item probably is not a “thing.” Hope you give yourself the chance to consider where you want to go from here. What else belongs on your list?

Know what you want,

Judy

And, if something you want is greater clarity and support on this journey – I can help with that.

Keep Your Balance

Good Morning,

So much of what we struggle with is about balance. It requires a lot of flexibility to maintain a sense of balance; because, often things don’t go the way we thought they would. Simple things, things we take for granted can tip us off balance, calling for a quick pivot, change of thought, different actions.

Today reflect upon your ability to be flexible – and persistent. What is the balancing point in following through, being determined and knowing when to let go, not overly tied to a certain thing, way, or outcome? How do you react when faced with a roadblock? What have you learned here? Where does resourcefulness fit in? What is worth hanging on to and what is not worth worrying about?

We don’t have control of everything, and sometimes the surprises bring unexpected gifts. Keep moving in the direction of what you want and take notice of the journey.

Dance with the music,

Judy

Good Morning,

Today I am going to ask you some questions and your task is not to answer them. Intrigued?

In the interest of allowing something different, seeing beyond the usual pattern, to foster growth, to step out of the default; be open to feeling, images, examples, insights; let go of the how, the answer your mind wants to supply – don’t rush to find the answer. Let answers/insights emerge, surface, connect, appear.

Consider where you tend to get stuck. Here are some places to look….

- Where does fear hold me back?

- Where do I feel caught in a sense of dullness, sameness?

- When do I feel powerless, unable to stand up for myself?

Notice what comes up as you consider these – or others around places where you tend to get stuck. Without judging or excusing, just notice.

This time of life could be an opportunity for you to open yourself up to growth. Big questions like these and what comes up around them could point you in a direction that would expand your you-ness. Still intrigued? I am.

Make the most of this stage,

Judy

Good Morning,

On this sunny beautiful fall day I am asking you to take some time and consider stress. Hopefully this message is coming to you at a time when you are relaxed, at ease, able to reflect, relatively stress free. I say hopefully, recognizing that much of the time we are experiencing some level of stress which can arise from a variety of areas – work, relationships, health, finances, change, the list goes on.

The questions for you today are these: What do you recognize as stressors in your life? How do you manage stress? When under stress - what changes for you? Who do you become? What do you let go of, forget, or neglect?

Handy stuff to know - awareness can help with staying mindful. Staying mindful, grounded, present is a good thing….right?

Choose well-ness,

Judy

Good morning,

What would you call the life stage you are in right now?

How about one of these…

-busy working mom/household managing/wedging in friends/being a wife/with a little self care, personal growth on the side?

- career focused/relationship building/learning/exploring?

-career maintaining/empty nest/transitioning

- family connector/work on the side/learner/relaxed pace?

There are so many ways to label the chief duties, commitments, where we put our energy at any stage of life. Sometimes it is worth stepping back to consider the stage you are in and realize that the stage you are in now will not remain constant. Things will change…children grow…relationships shift….we change, learn, and grow…our priorities change...opportunities come and go…

My request this morning is to play with naming your stage. What would you call it? What is your work, your focus right now? This is the perfect time for _____________ what?

Pay attention,

Judy

April 29, 2011

Good morning,

What is your perfect daily balance? Each day holds a combination of activities, segments, devoted to different things, various roles, responsibilities; all calling for a certain energy, focus, perspective.

You could think about this and sort your day into categories, i.e.: quiet, personal time, social/interactive, physical activity, structured, unstructured, relaxation, family, chores, reflection….. There are lots of ways to categorize where you spend your time and energy. It can be worthwhile to notice and record your activities in order to get an understanding of what gets your time and attention.

Often I talk to people about what is important to them and we look for ways to better align what they want with what they are doing and who they are being. It’s helpful to start with an awareness of where you are to start with. See what you notice. Where can you make room? What is not consistent with what you want? What is giving you a sense of satisfaction? What is not? Where do you go from here?

Helps to know where you are,

Judy

Moving, changing, learning

Hello,
Thanks for reading. Want to let you know that I will continue to post a weekly message though it will be on my new blog: http://mynextstagecoach.blogspot.com/. My Next Stage Coach

The focus of my coaching is shifting to issues related to defining, planning and moving into the next life stage. So...if you are considering questions like:
Is it time to retire? Will I retire?
What is there to enjoy, appreciate about being this age, at this stage of life?
What can I do to stay active, to feel vital?
Is there work for me to do?
How do I make the most of what I've learned along the way?
How do I "be" with this body that is changing?
The kids are grown, now what?
What happens when my spouse retires?
What can I start doing now that will move me in the direction I want to go?

So, come on over. A new message has been posted on My Next Stage Coach. See where it takes you.

Change is constant and change has come to this blog.
I am shifting my coaching to focus on preparing for and moving into life's next stage....as in:
Is it time to think about retirement?
What do I do now that the kids are grown?
When did I start looking so much like my mother?
What is happening to my body and is there anything I can do about it?
Is there anything good about being this age?
What benefit is there to all of this wisdom I think I've acquired over these many years?
What work is there for me to do?
What kind of life style do I want now, at this age, at this stage?
If these questions resonate with you get in touch - and - or -come over to the new blog:

January 14, 2011

Dear Creators,

This morning’s questions to consider are about being pro-active in creating your well being. Take a look at what you are doing to support your growth, learning, health, prosperity, relationships, and spirit. What are you doing consciously and consistently to have what you want; to have more of that; to invite that into your life? You might ask yourself…

- What am I reading that stimulates my mind?

- What am I doing every day to move my body?

- What am I eating to give myself good nutrition?

- Who do I talk to?

- What am I contributing to the world?

- How am I using my talents?

- How am I balancing my resources, my money, and my time?

- What is feeding my spirit?

- How am I connecting with my creativity?

You may notice areas that could use some attention. As circumstances change, as we change, adjustments are called for. Notice what is calling for some work, some tweaking, some shift. Be pro-active in creating your well-being.

Take very good care,

Judy

Dear Creators,

Right now, in this moment, as you are reading this message let’s take a moment to envision what you are wanting. What is it you want to expand in your life? Better relationships? More vitality/health? Peace of mind? Fun?

Let your mind rest there, with what you are wanting. Create a picture representing that in your mind. Notice what it feels like in your body. Notice your energy as you hold that in your mind’s eye. Close your eyes; breathe deeply; and allow yourself to enjoy this place for a few moments....

Are you back? Your eyes must be open – as you are reading this. Now, cast your eyes around the space you are in. What do you notice here? What in your physical environment is supporting you in having what you want? What is not supporting you?

See if this exercise helps you make room in your life mentally and physically for what you are wanting - often we need to get rid of some old “stuff” to make room for something else.

Aligning inner and outer space,

Judy

January 14, 2011

Dear Creators,

What kind of day are you having today? How would you describe it: Ordinary? Special? Promising? Busy? Routine? Boring? Exciting? Chaotic?

Today appreciate what you create in the day to day; the established routines, the good deeds, the healthy practices, the responsibilities you honor, the work you do, the relationships you nourish. Often the every-dayness of doing the right things is overlooked. And yet, it is the strength of these solid foundations that offer us support, lessons, some measure of security and peace of mind.

The new and exotic can be exhilarating and attractive. It can provide a compelling incentive to move forward. Gradual, step by step evolving, growing may not seem as exciting. Let’s have room for both; let’s appreciate all growth, all learning, all the good, in big bites and small nibbles.

Small step or giant leap,

Judy

Dear Creators,

Happy New Year!

The notion of having a brand new year is very appealing; like having a blank new page to start fresh; a chance to leave the old behind and begin a new chapter. And, while that is attractive, I am also noticing that moving into the new is more often an experience of gradual process. A lot of times change unfolds in steps rather than as an abrupt “toss out the old – take on the new.”

For example: as I look at my office (also part time guest room/storage area) and I consider my project of re-organizing, re-purposing, what I notice is there is progress; and it is a work in process. Some things are taking longer than I expected, I haven’t decided just where to put some things – do I want new furniture? There are more steps to this than I thought at the beginning.

What is there to consider around this? What is there to learn? What do you notice about setting a goal? What do you notice about being in process? How do you appreciate the process? What is the difference between spinning your wheels and taking time to attend to the unexpected that showed up?

There are all kinds of actions that can be a part of progress, of learning….what is the most appropriate for you right now?

Never Done,

Judy
